Greetings and welcome to IP News!
IP News is produced as a global information and educational resource for the publishing and information industries by NetPubs International, LLC. IP News gives you a focused glimpse of what publishing will be like the day after tomorrow and probably for the next three years as we move through a transition era from print to electronic publications. That is, a single title with a Print Edition AND an Internet Edition ... but not necessarily equal and the same. Each of the editions will reflect the dimensions of its respective media.
The four-page IP News (Print Edition) will be mailed to you as a paid subscriber on a quarterly basis and will contain a single lead article along with several other items of interest to you as a publishing professional.
You can access your paid subscription to the IP News (Internet Edition) site via password at any time you choose. The Internet Edition will be a continuous publication with new material added monthly such as longer versions of lead Print Edition articles. Also expect to find other full-length articles and meeting reports along with features (such as Web site reviews) relevant to electronic and Internet publishing, plus links to sites of interest such as those of other electronic publications, publishers, or vendors to the industry.
If enough subscribers are interested, the potential for a truly interactive "letters-to-the-editor" awaits. An IP News (Internet Edition) chat room might be established where you can carry on conversations with authors and each other. Readers' Web site finds can be posted for all to browse. Mini-industry surveys can be conducted via e-mail with preliminary results reported within days of the closing date and complete reports produced in weeks.
You can subscribe to one or both editions, whatever is most convenient for you. As Editor, I'm considering the Print Edition the tip of the Internet Edition and at times, four pages are about all someone has time to read. But, don't miss out on too many of the extras in our electronic edition. As the song goes: "Don't stop thinking about tomorrow" ... or the day after.
Looking forward to your reactions to either or both IP News editions over the next year, as I remain with best regards,
Barbara Meyers
